



Lead IT Network Engineer
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Lead IT Network Engineer to take charge of our client’s wide area network (WAN) connectivity. As a senior member of the IT department, you will play a vital role in maintaining a reliable and efficient network infrastructure that supports our manufacturing operations. This role is on-site in downtown Cleveland.
Summary of Responsibilities:
• Design and Architecture: Develop and maintain the overall design and architecture of the Cisco wide area network (WAN) infrastructure, ensuring scalability, security, and high availability to meet the organization's current and future requirements.
• Network Deployment: Oversee the deployment and configuration of WAN equipment, including routers, switches, firewalls, and related components, ensuring optimal performance and adherence to industry best practices.
• Network Optimization: Continuously optimize the wide area network infrastructure to enhance performance, reliability, and efficiency. Analyze network traffic patterns, identify areas for improvement, and implement appropriate solutions to optimize bandwidth utilization and reduce latency.
• Network Documentation: Maintain accurate and up-to-date documentation of network configurations, diagrams, and standard operating procedures. Ensure that network changes and configurations are properly documented and communicated to relevant stakeholders.
• Vendor Management: Collaborate with external vendors and service providers to evaluate and select network equipment, negotiate contracts, and oversee the implementation and support of network solutions. Maintain strong relationships with vendors to ensure prompt resolution of issues and effective vendor support.
• Team Leadership: Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior network engineers. Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including IT operations, security, and infrastructure teams, to ensure seamless integration and coordination of network activities.
• Emerging Technologies: Stay abreast of industry trends and emerging network technologies. Evaluate new technologies and propose their implementation where appropriate to improve network performance, security, and operational efficiency.
Requirements:
• 10+ years of experience in network engineering, with a focus on Cisco wide area network connectivity.
• Strong expertise in designing, deploying, and managing complex WAN infrastructures, including experience with MPLS, BGP, OSPF, and other routing protocols.
• In-depth knowledge of network security principles and best practices, including experience with firewalls, VPNs, intrusion detection/prevention systems, and access controls.
• Proficient in network monitoring and troubleshooting tools (e.g., Wireshark, SolarWinds, Nagios).
• Experience with network virtualization technologies (e.g., SD-WAN) is a plus.
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to handle and prioritize multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate effectively with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
• Willingness to travel 10 percent of the time.
Preferred Qualifications:
• 12 years of network experience within a large multi-site manufacturing environment.
• Relevant certifications (e.g., CCNP) are highly desirable.
